About Us

The people behind Penang Salsa Fiesta 2015 are not celebrities. We're merely a small community of Latin-dancing Penangites and expatriates based in Penang who'll find time every Friday night to put on their dancing heels and shoes. We would travel to other countries for our friends' salsa festivals and congresses but would often wonder ... why can't we invite our overseas friends and locals to dance right here in Penang?

Penang is known worldwide for her top-notch cuisines. What is lesser known is Penang's association with the freedom of expression, particularly in the performing arts. While she has been home to a variety of festivals (from music to film to literature), salsa dancing and other Latin dance genres still remain a mystery of sorts to the general public. With a supportive State Government, this project became our drive. We hope to share our pride of Penang and passion in Latin dancing through Penang Salsa Fiesta 2015!

Our Objectives

What do we aim for? Where do we see ourselves going from here? We asked these questions so it's only fair we provide the answers...

We aim to expand the freedom of expression, that salsa dancing is an expression of life.

We desire to share our passion in salsa dancing with non-dancers in Penang.

We seek to create a new generation of dancers, regardless of age.

We aspire to be the largest salsa event in Malaysia within 2 years.

We dream to be a major international salsa event in Asia within 4 years.
